Common applications
200 mesh psyllium husk powder is used as a natural thickening and film-forming agent in face masks, hair gels, and skin creams. The mucilage forms a clear, non-irritating gel at low use levels (0.5–2%), making it a clean-label alternative to synthetic thickeners.
Psyllium khakha powder is used in soil improvement products and erosion control applications. The high fibre and mucilage content improves water retention in sandy soils and acts as a natural soil binder in turf and landscape products.
Psyllium powder serves as a natural binder in compressed tablet, incense, and agro-pellet manufacturing. Its adhesive properties reduce synthetic binder requirements, and it is compatible with water-activated pressing and extrusion processes.
The high swelling capacity of psyllium husk powder (40–50 ml/g at 95% purity) makes it suitable for absorbent pads, wound care substrates, and horticultural water-retention granules where natural, biodegradable absorbency is required.
